Essential oils are the natural way to keep sunburn and insects at bay this summer
From the beaches of Brighton to the foothills of the Himalayas, sunburn and insect bites can often spoil a summer holiday. If you're looking for natural solutions to keep bugs at bay or sooth sun burnt skin, try Amphora Aromatics essential oils.
According toEugény Couture,in-house aromatherapist at Amphora Aromatics, essential oils can have incredible healing powers, "Back in 1937, a French chemist, Rene-Maurice Gattefosse, accidentally burned his hand in his laboratory and immersed it in the essential oil of lavender. He found it eased the pain and helped the hand heal without infection or scarring. Gattefosse coined the word 'Aromatherapie' and today, France is at the forefront of aromatherapy and essential oils are widely used as people become more aware of the benefits of essential oils."

For the face, dilute one drop of essential oil such as Lavender or Rosemary in 5ml of a carrier oil such as Jojoba or Argan.Amphora Aromatics Tip: hair holds smells better than skin, so if you don't want to put oil on your body, put one or two drops on a wooden comb and comb through hair.

Comments Eugény Couture,, "Our Spa Essentials range is the result of our many years of experience seeking out independent producers to ensure we sell only the highest quality products.
"Plant extracts have played a huge part in the health and well-being of humans for hundreds of thousands of years. Even now more is being discovered about the effectiveness and abilities of these wonderful products of nature. Essential oils and aromatherapy in general can help to relieve and improve both our general health and specific conditions."
"Some essential oils can cause sensitization or allergic reactions in some individuals. It is always advisable to perform a patch test when using a new essential oil for the first time. Simply mix one drop of oil with a teaspoon (5 ml) of carrier oil - such as sweet almond oil or grape seed oil. Apply a small amount to the inside of your wrist or elbow and leave uncovered for twenty four hours. If no sign of itching, redness or swelling occurs, it should be safe for you to use the oil."
