Huddersfield Centre, a £74 million centre belonging to
Kirklees College, was formally opened by HRH The Duke of York last week in an
event attended by AA Projects.
The official opening saw local employers, students and staff
members introduced to the facilities and being given a tour of the grounds. Other
guests included local councillors and MPs and a host of college partners,
business individuals and agency members. The Duke also made an appearance and
was tasked with unveiling a special plaque.
Principal at Kirklees College, Peter McCann, said that he
was honoured to receive The Duke.
“It is a huge honour to have such a distinguished guest to
officially open our fantastic new college centre in Huddersfield. We look
forward to welcoming the Duke of York and showing him how we are developing
enterprise and employability skills for our students, with the help and support
from our local business community,” explained McCann. “The event is also a
great opportunity to thank those who have been so supportive in turning the
vision of this building into a reality.”
AA Projects, a Manchester based consultancy firm with an
affluence of experience in property, was tasked with the role of project
managing the build, delivering strategic advice throughout the process. A
representative for the company stated that they are proud to have been involved
in the development.
“Kirklees College is one of the largest colleges in England,
employing over a thousand staff members and boasting in excess of 20,000
students. We’re privileged to have not only won the contract to project manage
the build but also to have worked with so many fantastic, creative individuals
on what is now home to many of the best and brightest students and teachers in
Europe.
“We’ve worked with the college for several years now,
helping them to attain much needed funding for the new Huddersfield Centre, and
to see it finally officially opened, by the Duke of York of all people, is
amazing. We’re sure that the students and teachers will be just as inspired by
the premises as everyone else who has played a role in bringing it together is!”
The Huddersfield Centre development will add to the already
impressive portfolio of education projects that AA Projects has been involved
in over the years.
