Walk Japan appoints Loudbird PR
We are delighted to announce that Loudbird PR and Communications has been awarded the UK PR contract by walking and cultural tours specialist Walk Japan.
Walk Japan is the pioneer of walking tours of Japan and has been operating for almost 25 years, offering a wide range of scheduled, original tours as well as private custom tours tailored to their customers' particular interests.
Walk Japan prides itself on the quality and unrivalled knowledge of its highly educated, English-speaking tour leaders and its ability to offer authentic, off-the-beaten-track custom tours of Japan, in addition to leading the market in offering the more well-known popular tours, such as the Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage and the Nakasendo Way walk.
The specialist, described by National Geographic as "one of the best 200 adventure companies in the world" has grown considerably since its inception over 22 years ago, creating a strong foothold in the Australian, Singapore and North America markets, and leading the way in providing custom educational tours for schools and other academic institutions around the world, and is now focusing on growing its customer-base in the UK.
Walk Japan director Lewellyn Thomas says:
"We know there is an appetite for our walking tours with adventurous UK travellers who enjoy cultural, healthy experiences and are keen to see the beautiful countryside and exciting cities of Japan. And now is a particularly good time for visitors from the UK to visit Japan and take advantage of the strength of the pound against the Yen.
"We are extremely proud of the quality of our walking tours and in particular of our walking tour leaders; all of whom are educated to university-level and are native speakers or highly proficient in both English and Japanese."
Primarily popular with the over-50s market, Walk Japan has seen a steady increase in the number of younger travellers and families with teenage children looking for more of an adventurous and educational element to their holidays. The specialist already provides custom educational tours for academic institutions. Walk Japan also has some new scheduled tours planned which will appeal to the women's market, and to the luxury market, and we will be bringing you news of these in the coming months.

About Walk Japan:
The operator was launched in 1992 by Hong Kong University academics Tom Stanley and Dick Irving, who had regularly been running study trips in Japan with a focus on Japanese history and Japanese social geography.
From 1992, these tours formed the backbone of Walk Japan's walking tours programme, which now features 11 tours to match all abilities with durations from four days to 12 days. The tours take visitors on an adventure through Japan, visiting the country's impressive mountain ranges, cities, temples and countryside to experience Japan's customs, history, foods and lifestyle.
Walk Japan also specialises in tailor-made itineraries, short-stay city tours of Tokyo and Kyoto, which these can be bolted on to the beginning or end of a walking tour, golf itineraries and educational tours that are suitable for schools.
