Burning wood to create electricity ignores the sequence of use and is a wasteful use of a precious resource

Norbord's Use Wood Wisely campaign is dedicated to the hierarchy of wood

Use Wood Wisely has highlighted latest figures that show one tonne of wood burnt in a power station emits 1.8 tonnes* of CO2 into the atmosphere.

The government has not counted these figures when calculating the carbon cost of biomass in the UK. It has been assumed that biomass is a ‘carbon-free asset'.

These findings again highlight how wrong the government is about biomass and how ridiculous growing wood to burn is in trying to meet low carbon energy targets.
