PRESS RELEASE JUNE 2014
GUY FASHION. HAVING MORE THAN JUST A MOMENT.
With Men's Fashion Week in London rapidly approaching in June , there will be an impressive line up of the top end designers taking part in showcasing their latest menswear collections. The Men's fashion scene at both the top end and high street hasnever been hotter, driven by demand from guys who are expecting more; better quality, more choice and a range of price levels. And retailers at all spectrums are scrabbling to give it to them.
It's no surprise; the growth figures from Research companies like Mintel spell out the opportunity menswear presents. The UK Menswear market is now worth £10.4bn and has grown by 12% in the past five years and predicted to maintain that level of growth for the next 5 years. With Women wear reaching a point of maturity and saturation, menswear is currently expanding with some brilliant new innovations that are happening fast and furiously!
With high street stores like New Look considering converting some of its stores into menswear retailers and Whistles launching its first men's collection in May 2014 (Drapers Magazine February 2014) men's fashion is being seen as an exciting new growth area for many of the big fashion brands.
However, the menswear revolution goes far beyond just the usual high street suspects and top end designers. There are some exciting new entrants hitting the market and grabbing the attention of consumers. The new wave of independent and online only fashion brands are providing exciting and stylish fashion options for guys and particularly the youth market.
Stanley Kane is one such player. Having launched online in November 2013, the brand is building an online collection of hip, street wear style for guys aged 16-24. The fashion is fast, affordable and more than just a nod to the latest trends. Wearers of Stanley Kane love to mix and match; are not afraid to go bold and bright and wear their jeans spray on tight.
Keri Williams, Marketing Manager with Stanley Kane talks about the ambitions for the new online business. "We're inspired by the UK's vibrant cities and exciting music scene which is host to a brilliant youth culture and an original street wear style. When you look at the music scene, there's a lot of notice being taken on what the bands are wearing, their style setters and role models for the young generation. The Stanley Kane brand is about newness, confidence and affordable style. It's early days for the brand, but watch this space."
The Stanley Kane spring/summer 2014 collection features an interesting take on the season's trend for short shorts, monochrome and modern varsity.
The combination of the menswear fashion boom and the growth in online sales stands up and coming independent online fashion retailers like Stanley Kane in good stead for the future.
