UK lingerie retailer applauds Dolci Follie on their new lingerie brand to be launched in Japan this December

My-Knickers – one of the UK’s leading online lingerie and underwear retailers speak of their eager anticipation to view a new own-brand underwear line from luxury lingerie independent Dolci Follie, which will be created and launched in Japan in time for Christmas 2014.

Already well-established as a leading Italian lingerie designer, Dolci Follie chose Japan for their new launch because of the country’s massive reputation for excellent customer service and growing demand for European fashion brands. Dolci Follie owner, Simona Walters talked about her plans to reporters just a few days ago, stating that there will be a capsule collection that will be launched initially in December, with a second range following in February 2015 that will tie in with Valentine’s Day celebrations.

Quoted from the news story that appeared on the Fashion Business website for Drapers, details of the first launch range were described:

‘The first capsule collection will consist of three sets of bras, briefs, thongs, suspenders and babydoll slips, all in black.’ On the range due for February, the following was listed: ‘A second, similar-sized range will launch for Valentine’s Day 2015 in red and black.’

This exciting and full collection is to be further expanded to target the bridal market, incorporating white and ivory examples when the range comes to the UK in time for spring 2015. The series will be displayed within their Notting Hill Boutique. Choosing to manufacture the Dolci Follie collection in Italy was not unexpected as Simona explained: “I’m Italian, a lot of the brands we stock are Italian and I have a lot of contacts there – so it makes sense.”

A popular trend in retail out-letting across much of the Western hemisphere, pop-up shops or flash retailing involves opening short-term sales spaces and for Dolci Follie, is a move that they are calculating into their plans for when they launch the new range later this year.

Quoting again from the news feed on Draper’s online website, the following was posted:

‘Meanwhile, a pop-up shop will open in the Shinjuku, Tokyo branch of Japanese department store Isetan in December, which will sell a selection of the brands currently sold in the Notting Hill store.

The 172 sq. ft. space will open from December 4-8. A permanent store will be opened in Japan if the pop-up is successful.’

With this news, the spokesperson for My-Knickers said: “Our experience of Dolci Follie’s marvellous creations has always been one of high regard and we have no doubts that their success in Japan will only follow the popularity they have attained across Europe, producing high quality lingerie and swimwear. We will certainly be waiting for the UK launch of their collection next spring.”
