Concerns over sunscreen investigation that suggests covering up is the only safe way to prevent deadly melanoma

Louise Sandberg  - a UK fashion designer of desirable women’s summer and holiday clothing speaks frankly in regards to the latest news that even the highest protecting sunscreens do not protect against deadly skin cancer, melanoma

In a recent investigation conducted by researchers at the Cancer Research UK’s Manchester Institute, a study found that sunscreen delayed the development of melanoma in laboratory mice, but was ineffective in preventing the occurrence of cancer.

The news came as a shock to many and for Louise Sandberg a reason to remind holiday goers and those considering any opportunity to gain a suntan here in the UK this summer to seriously consider their choice of protection against harmful UV rays. Advice comes from across the world, especially from the USA where the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has for a number of years encouraged and advised people to stay in the shade between the hours of 10a.m. and 4p.m.

This is when the UV exposure risk is at its highest. In addition to this advice, the call to wear clothing that covers your arms and legs is very apparent, as is the use of sunscreens too as an additional barrier. The thought process is simple in the fact that the research suggests using a combination of preventative measures will far outperform the protective ability of using just one. The message that is being portrayed here is that sunscreens will not make your skin invincible against the effects of exposure to UV rays.

Louise Sandberg has for a number of years, specialised in creating a range of delightful summer clothing, offering fashionable casual wear and beach wear, perfect for trips to far away beaches or relaxing on your veranda at home. Speaking of the latest news, a spokesperson for the UK fashion designer had the following to say:

“As a company producing a huge range of light, comfortable kaftans and resortwear to keep you looking terrific and cool during the summer months and whilst on holiday, we have always had a strong understanding of the dangers that exposure to the sun can bring. With designs to flatter any body type, we focus on presenting our customers with clothing ideas that will make any holiday feel special.”

“In light of the results of recent studies we urge the public to consider the dangers of exposure to the sun, especially in the UK where for many, sunny days are a rarity. We are even more at risk in our eager attempts to tan ourselves as we try to soak up as much of the sun’s rays as possible.”

Sunscreen is not enough protection and combined with lightweight breathable clothing such as cotton kaftans and sarongs, you can do more to protect yourself, especially if holidaying abroad. View the entire range of Resortwear, Kaftans and accessories at www.louisesandberg.com today.
