Hardy Services comments on temporary floating walkway erected for fans at the World Cup in Brazil

Hardy Services Group, a leading supplier of products and services to a diverse selection of sectors, including engineering, construction and water treatment in the UK, has spoken about attempts by the Brazilian government to construct a temporary spectator bridge/walkway between the subway and the Sao Paulo stadium.

Initial photos that circulated the world press just days before the World Cup Kick off created a flurry of concern regarding the apparent lack of health and safety directives implemented by the Brazil organisers.

Catching the attention of safety conscious individuals worldwide, speculation was directed to the Brazilian organisers as to the safety of such a huge structure towering above the ground spanning a height of more than 50 ft. in places. Further worry came when reports that torrential rain could occur in proximity to the stadium.

A number of recent videos have also surfaced that show users expressing a definite look of worry as they gingerly make their way across, as the structure is seen to visibly sway with an unnerving momentum. The team at Hardy Services Group were equally shocked when first witnessing the images and subsequent video, with a spokesperson stating:

“Hardy Services Group has seen many cases where the temporary use of scaffolding has been above board and correct, and many times where it has not. In this instance, the sheer weight issues, without the other factors of balance and correct weight distribution worried us immensely.”

“Forgoing the British and European tendency to be slightly arrogant, in this case where we saw a lack of aesthetics within Brazil’s Sao Paulo Stadium bridge, it would have been easy, using a keen eye and our experience to presume its instability and thus determine its potential danger. However, it was only until we viewed the bridge in action and wondered how at all this structure had been passed for use in operating as a walkway for thousands of individuals.”

Hardy Access Services is a subsidiary company forming part of Hardy Services Group that specialises purely in scaffolding solutions, allowing clients to retain peace of mind and rest assurance that their scaffold requirements are approached expertly, presenting safe, sturdy and professional results.
