Thorite's Rochdale Service Centre Set for Continuing Success 

Opened in the late 1980's, Thorite's pneumatic products Sales and Service Centre in Rochdale can look back on over 25 years of success. Originally called the Rochdale Air Centre, it marked the first foray of Yorkshire-based Thorite into the Lancashire region and has since been augmented by Centres in Blackburn and Bolton. 

The Rochdale venture was immediately successful, selling over 100 air compressors in well under 12 months and maintaining high stock levels of light industrial products. These included air tools, spray guns, welding equipment and generators, plus back up accessories of tubing, fittings, filters, regulators, lubricators and gauges. Customers with requirements that couldn't be supplied immediately over the counter could take advantage of delivery within 12 hours from Thorite's Bradford head office. 

Today the Rochdale Sales and Service Centre is still located at its original address of Unit 11, The Landings, Oldham Road, but has recently benefitted from major refurbishments to its busy trade counter and smart showroom, creating a welcome upgrade to each facility. The Centre is supervised by Branch Manager Brian Day from Huddersfield, ably assisted by Sales Administrators Ian McLean from Rochdaleand Chris Daniels who lives in Todmorden. 

Stephen Wright, Thorite's Managing Director, has fond memories of the Rochdale Centre's development and said:

"Thorite has grown to become the UK's biggest distributor of pneumatic products and process systems and this position has been accelerated by the hard work and dedication of our staff in all 10 of our regional centres, but Rochdale's efforts have been particularly significant. Max Crosland, who currently runs our Group Systems Division, started as a salesman in Rochdale. He made a great many friends in the industry because of his attention to customer requirements, making expert recommendations on information received and only accepting an order if he was satisfied that the application was correct. More recently Peter Platt, now our Group Operations Manager, began his career in Rochdale as an internal sales administrator and the Centre has thrived thanks to the talents of many other exceptional staff. I'd also like to thank our thousands of Rochdale customers, past and present, for their continued support over the years."
