BROADWAY PREDICTS A VERY ENTERTAINING WINTER

 New York's Theatreland Launches A Record Number Of New Musicals Plays - And Magic!


A visit to New York this coming Autumn or Winter is a chance to take in the widest choice ever of new productions including musicals, plays and even a magic show.

Starts performances on September 20that the Lyric Theatre.

This Autmn, one of America's greatest musical comedies is docking at Broadway's beautifully restored Lyric Theatre in the heart of Times Square. With the biggest orchestra on Broadway and a 30-member cast of New York's most talented singers and dancers, On The Town tells the story of three wide-eyed sailors on a whirlwind musical tour of the city that never sleeps. With just 24 hours of shore leave, they're eager to experience all that New York City has to offer... including a chance to discover love with the girl of their dreams.


THE LAST SHIP
Starts performances September 29that the Neil Simon Theatre  

The Last Ship is a new musical with an original score by 16-time Grammy Award winner STING. Set in the English seafaring town of Wallsend, a close-knit community where life has always revolved around the local shipyard and the hardworking men who construct magnificent vessels with tremendous pride. But Gideon Fletcher dreams of a different future. He sets out to travel the world, leaving his life and his love behind. When Gideon returns home 14 years later, he finds the shipyard's future in grave danger and his childhood sweetheart engaged to someone else. The Last Ship is a portrait of a community so bound together by passion, faith and tradition; they'll stop at nothing to preserve the only life they've ever known.


HONEYMOON IN VEGAS
 
Starts performances on November 18that the Brooks Atkinson Theatre

Honeymoon in Vegas tells the story of Jack Singer (Rob McClure), a commitment-phobe who finally proposes to his girlfriend Betsy. The couple heads to Vegas to get hitched, but when the smooth talking gambler Tommy Korman (Tony Danza) falls head over heels for Betsy, he arranges for Jack to lose big in a poker game so he can claim the bride-to-be as his own girlfriend. Music by Tony Award® winner Jason Robert Brown.


ON THE TWENTIETH CENTURY
Starts performances on February 12th2015 at the American Airlines Theatre (limited engagement!)

On the Twentieth Century follows a down-and-out Broadway producer named Oscar Jaffe, who struggles to convince his former muse and lover, Lily Garland, now a successful film actress, to return to Broadway in a (non-existent) epic drama about Mary Magdalene. While dealing with Lily Garland's jealous new lover and a religious fanatic aboard a luxury train, Oscar hopes he can lure her back to the stage and salvage his sinking career. This revival stars the incomparable Kristin Chenoweth and Peter Gallagher.


THE KING AND I
Starts performances on March 12th2015 at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre

The King and I tells the story of Anna, an American governess, who tries to help an Eastern king come to terms with the modern world. Starring the amazing Kelli O'Hara and Ken Watanabe, this revival of the beloved Rodgers & Hammerstein musical is sure to be a favorite for audiences of all ages.


A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM
Starts performances in March of 2015 at a theatre to be announced.

With music and lyrics written by Stephen Sondheim, this revival of the classic musical will be directed by Alex Timbers and James Corden is rumored to star. This hysterical musical comedy tells the story of Pseudolus, a slave in ancient Rome, who goes to great lengths to gain his freedom by securing a courtesan for his young master, Hero.


AN AMERICAN IN PARIS
Starts performances in April of 2015 at a theatre to be announced.

Broadway is taking Paris by storm this season. The producers could not be happier to launch the world premiere of the Broadway production of An American in Paris. The show will be directed and choreographed by world renowned choreographer Christopher Wheeldon who has pulled together a Tony-Award winning design team and an incredible cast. And, of course, the production features some of the best music ever written by George and Ira Gershwin. This is an all-new musical set to take a place in the canon of classic American musicals.


FINDING NEVERLAND

Based on the Miramax motion picture by David Magee,Finding Neverlandfollowsthe relationship between playwright J. M. Barrie and the family that inspiredPeter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up,one of the most beloved stories of all time.


DAMES AT SEA
Starts performances on a date to be announced at a theatre to be announced.

Ruby steps off a bus from Utah and into her first Broadway show, but hours before the opening night curtain is to rise, the cast learns their theater is being demolished. So Ruby and the cast, with the help of some adoring sailors, set a plan in motion to perform the show on a naval battleship. Dames at Sea premiered off-Broadway in 1968 and ran for 575 performances - this would be it's first-ever Broadway production.
 

PLAYS


IT'S ONLY A PLAY
Starts performances September 4that the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre (limited engagement!)

It's opening night of Peter Austin's (Matthew Broderick) new play as he anxiously awaits to see if his show is a hit. With his career on the line, he shares his big First Night with his best friend, a television star (Nathan Lane), his fledgling producer (Megan Mullally), his erratic leading lady (Stockard Channing), his wunderkind director, an infamous drama critic (F. Murray Abraham) and a fresh-off-the-bus coat check attendant.  It's alternately raucous, ridiculous and tender — reminding audiences why there's no business like show business.


THE COUNTRY HOUSE
Starts performances September 9that the Samuel J Friedman Theatre (limited engagement!)

The Country House follows Anna Patterson (Blythe Danner), the matriarch of a brood of famous and longing-to-be-famous creative artists who have gathered at their Berkshires summerhouse during the Williamstown Theatre Festival. But when the weekend takes an unexpected turn, everyone is forced to improvise... inciting a series of simmering jealousies, a flurry of romantic outbursts and a bout of passionate soul-searching.


THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME
Starts performances on September 15that the Barrymore Theatre

Fifteen-year old Christopher has an extraordinary brain; he is exceptionally intelligent but ill-equipped to interpret everyday life. When he falls under suspicion for killing his neighbor's dog, he sets out to identify the true culprit, which leads to an earth-shattering discovery and a journey that will change his life forever.


DISGRACED

Disgraced tells the story of Amir Kapoor, a successful Pakistani-American lawyer who is rapidly moving up the corporate ladder while distancing himself from his cultural roots. When Amir and his wife Emily, a white artist influenced by Islamic paintings, host a dinner party, what starts out as a friendly conversation escalates into something far more damaging.

A DELICATE BALANCE

In A Delicate Balance, Agnes (Glenn Close) and Tobias (John Lithgow), a long-married couple, must maintain their equilibrium as over the course of a weekend they welcome home their 36-year old daughter (Martha Plimpton) after the collapse of her fourth marriage, and give shelter to their best friends (Bob Balaban and Clare Higgins) who seek refuge in their home, all the while tolerating Agnes' alcoholic live-in sister, Claire (Lindsay Duncan).


THE RIVER
Starts performances on October 31stat the Circle in the Square Theatre (limited engagement!)

Tony Award® winner Hugh Jackman returns to Broadway in The River, a spellbinding new play written by JJez Butterworth and directed by Ian Rickson, the team behind the hit play Jerusalem. A remote fishing cabin, a man and a woman, and a moonless night.The River asks: when we find each other, are we trying to recapture someone we once lost?  Erotic, chilling and poetic, The River promises to be the must-see event of the season.


THE ELEPHANT MAN
Starts performances on November 7that the Booth Theatre (limited engagement!)

Two-time Academy Award® nominee Bradley Cooper (American Hustle, Silver Linings Playbook) returns to Broadway in Bernard Pomerance's Tony Award®-winning classic The Elephant Man. The Elephant Man tells the true life-story of John Merrick, a severely disfigured 19th-century Englishman who struggles to live with dignity as he goes from freak show exhibit to unlikely society figure.


CONSTELLATIONS
Starts performances on December 16that the Samuel J Friedman Theatre (limited engagement.)

Constellations tells the story of one relationship with infinite possibilities. It explores the boundless potential of a first encounter, free will and friendship. Starring Jake Gyllenhaal.


THIS IS OUR YOUTH
Starts performances on August 18th2015 at the Cort Theatre (limited engagement!)

Set in New York in 1982, This Is Our Youth follows forty-eight hours in the lives of three very lost young souls: Warren (Michael Cera), a dejected nineteen year old who has just stolen $15,000 from his abusive, tycoon father; Dennis, his charismatic drug-dealing friend who helps Warren put the stolen money to good use; and, Jessica, the anxiously insightful young woman who Warren yearns for.


YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU
