D R Services offers tinting on demand glass

Helping to cut glare and solar gain by tinting on demand, SageGlass is now available for distribution and installation by glazed solution specialist, D R Services. The glass maintains a view to the outdoors and provides dynamic technical and aesthetic solutions in commercial and residential buildings, reducing energy costs while eliminating the need for shades, blinds and louvers.

SageGlass is an active insulating glazing delivered as a double or triple glazed unit in the required dimensions. Under the effect of a low voltage electric current it can be switched from clear to darkly tinted or vice versa, yet will always remain transparent. Dependent on the size of the glass and temperature, the transition typically takes 5-7 minutes.

Designed for windows, skylights and curtain walls, SageGlass can be manually operated or controlled by a building management system linked to light sensors, optimising daylight through the seasons yet preventing glare and overheating and cutting air-conditioning costs. This means that SageGlass increases design freedom and improves the well being of occupants. The product helps achieve compliance with current and forthcoming Building Regulations that are aimed at implementing a zero carbon standard for new buildings and require the limiting of solar gains.

The product is compatible with most window and facades frames made of aluminum, PVC or wood so the integrity of the architectural scheme is respected.
