A series of family fun days staged over the summer holidays by Stafford and Rural Homes (SARH) has been hailed a huge success.

The events aimed to raise awareness of the broad range of services delivered by the housing association and its community partners whilst providing a great day out for local families.

Held in Prospect Road, Coton Fields, Merry Road, Burton Moor, Priory Road, Stone and Perrin Close, Silkmore on Fridays throughout the school holidays, they attracted dozens of local residents and a number of high profile guests including Staffordshire Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Ellis.

Chris Plant, Head of Housing Management at SARH explained: "The events formed a central part of our ‘Fit for the Future' campaign and provided the opportunity for people to find out more about money advice, tips on health and well-being, getting online and information on the Governments welfare reforms.

"There was also plenty of fun for all the family, with a wide range of free activities including face painting, football skills, balloon modelling and an inflatable gladiator pit.

"They also gave us the chance to meet with customers and other residents, face-to-face in a relaxed atmosphere to talk about the community they live in, whilst hearing the latest news from our Neighbourhood Services Team."

Karen Armitage, SARH Chief Executive, added: "Initiatives such as Fit for the Future enable us to demonstrate our commitment to the wider community. We have been delighted with the support of our partners in helping to deliver a series of events that have helped to bring neighbours closer together and given more access for residents to build up some of the skills they might need for the future challenges and opportunities they could meet."
