New partnership announces new satellite broadband packages for Cornwall

PRESS RELEASE

Release date: September 5, 2014

NEW BROADBAND PARTNERSHIP ANNOUNCES EXPANDED AND UNIQUE RANGE OF SATELLITE BROADBAND PACKAGES FOR CORNWALL WITH 90 DAY TRIAL PERIOD

Avonline Broadband, the UK's largest satellite broadband provider, and CorNetworks, an award winning Cornish based ISP, have announced a collaboration to support over 10,000 Cornish residents with a range of new satellite broadband packages.

As the Superfast Cornwall programme reaches completion, despite the increase in availability of fibre broadband throughout the county, those homes and businesses that are only likely to receive the minimum 2Mbps connection have now been identified. For many of these 13,000 locations, seeking alternative solutions to improve their broadband speeds is of fundamental importance.

As official partners to BT under the Superfast Cornwall programme, Avonline Broadband and CorNetworks already provide the subsidised satellite broadband service available to those Cornish residents unable to receive 2Mbps via the BT network. Today the companies are making two alternative services available to residents that offer faster speeds, a wider range of data options and a unique "9Mbps average speed guarantee*" on their Avanti services.

To launch the partnership, the companies have also announced a special promotion through to the end of the year. Despite having over a million users worldwide, with satellite broadband still being an unfamiliar technology for many, the Avanti and Tooway packages come with a 90-day trial period. The trial period is designed to give customers confidence in choosing the new services before needing to make a commitment.

In addition to the 90 day trial offer, Avonline Broadband and CorNetworks are also offering the following special offers for Cornish residents :-

  • 30 days free service on their 10GB per month Avanti and Tooway packages;

  • Free wireless router worth up to £60;

  • Half price installation when four or more neighbours get connected on the same day, saving £50 per customer;

  • Fibre Guarantee - switch to fibre if it becomes available

Avonline Broadband managing director Mark Wynn said: "With more than 10,000 systems already installed across the UK, we have proved conclusively how we are able to help customers get fast broadband today, no matter where they live.

"The new packages provide a wider choice of services and data options delivered via satellite anywhere in Cornwall, no matter how remote. There is no phone line needed and no lengthy wait for an upgrade programme."

* With the innovative Avanti packages, customers also benefit from the Unique Service Promise.On a rolling 30-day measure, the service will deliver an average download speed of 9Mbps or greater measured across its total Avanti customer base.

Gary Hall, CEO of CorNetworks said: "We have seen a great response to our satellite broadband services, delivered and serviced locally in Cornwall. Working alongside the Avonline Broadband team will now enable us to offer the range of packages that our customers have been asking for."

On the new Avanti and Tooway services, the companies are also offering hardware rental to reduce start-up costs, and the option of spreading the installation cost over the first year.

"No-one else can give such a specific service commitment and so many different options to Cornwall. We believe we have overcome the historic barriers to the much wider use of satellite broadband," said Mark Wynn.
