CERTIFICATE IN COMMUNITY INTERPRETING GETS POSITIVE RESPONSE FROM LINGUISTS
Applications come in for newly-accredited course.
Technology and distance-learning approach suits linguists' work commitments.
Leeds, England: 22 September 2014 - Robert Mynett, who heads up the International School of Linguists (ISL), says he is "very pleased" with the volume of applications for its newly-launched Level 3 Certificate in Community Interpreting.
The Level 3 Certificate in Community Interpreting, which uses distance learning technology to enable linguists to study from home, provides the minimum qualification required to operate as a paid interpreter for the majority of public services.
It is the first course launched by The International School of Linguists since it became an accredited Ascentis Recognised Centre, enabling it to develop a range of nationally-recognised vocational qualifications.
Achieving the qualification takes approximately six months and costs £595. The option to spread the cost of the qualification over four payments, combined with the fact that it is available across the whole of the UK, makes it one of the most accessible linguist qualifications available.
Robert Mynett, General Manager of the International School of Linguists, says: "We're very pleased with the positive reaction we've received from linguists and applications for the new Certificate. As well as the content being accredited, the technology we have used to deliver the training means that linguists can study from home which suits their busy lifestyles."
The Level 3 Certificate in Community Interpreting covers the knowledge and techniques needed by an interpreter working within the public sector. It includes issues of professional practice and conduct and the practical aspects of preparing for and carrying out an interpreting assignment to nationally-recognised standards.
Alongside these core skills, linguists choose a minimum of two specific areas within the public sector in which to specialise: the NHS, Mental Health, Social Services, Housing, Education, Immigration and Welfare.
