Software giants NFS roomMaster responds to news that the UK will introduce new
measures to promote British tourism to 25,000 Chinese holidaymakers over the
next 12 months.
In a release
from the UK’s leading body on tourism, VisitBritain, there has been a statement
from the government that has announced that between 2015 and 2017, there are an
estimated 25,000 tourists from China who plan to visit the UK, having booked
touring holidays to Britain. As outlined in the statement, as a gesture to
increase tourism further in the UK, visa fees will be refunded in a bid to
influence further interest in the UK as a popular tourist destination.
A selection
of tour operators, those who apply for group visas via the Approved Destination
Status, those who have applied for 6 month multiple-entry visas and other
successful visa applicants will be eligible for rebates towards the cost of
their visa applications, as long as they include certain criteria as part of
their travels. One being to visit specific destinations within their
itineraries or visits to the UK must occur within certain timescales.
Numbers of
Chinese tourists were up 10% last year compared with 2012 and the trend shows
that 2015 is set to attract a greater audience, last year generating
£492million in revenue alone from visitors from China. “Presenting some refunds
at approximately 50% of the amount would be an attractive incentive for further
visitors,” said outbound travel European centre manager for Shanghai Arline
Tours, Mr. Gu Chao.
