Health and Safety is key for the 2014 Ladder Exchange occurring between 1st Sept and 31st Dec

Ladder, access and scaffold experts Lofts and Ladders respond to the current success of the Ladder Exchange operating across the UK in a bid to promote the use of safe equipment

Advertised through Workplace Law, a specialist in employment law, health and safety and environmental management, the Ladder Exchange 2014 is run by the industry body the Ladder Association and is designed to encourage those whose ladders are past their best to trade in their potentially unsafe equipment by offering a cash incentive.

An estimated 2 million ladders are used daily within the UK, and with falls from heights still classed as one of the leading causes of serious injuries and fatalities in the workplace, the integrity and frequent inspection of equipment such as ladders and platforms is essential. Maintaining safe working equipment and tools can save lives.

Since the 1st of September 2014, the scheme has allowed both businesses and individuals to trade their old stepladders and ladders in for new replacements, at a discounted price, via a number of outlets across Britain.

Cameron Clow, the Ladder Association’s Chairman, commented on the project, saying: “This is our third year running the Ladder Exchange, which has been an excellent means of getting out the ladder safety message while helping people in a practical way. Thousands of ladders were traded in last year, saving a lot of people and businesses money and hopefully lives as well.”

Devon-based providers of scaffold towers, stepladders, telescopic ladders, podiums and more, Lofts and Ladders regularly reacts to news and events occurring within their industry. A representative for the company believes the Ladder Exchange will benefit many individuals, for whom their current stepladders or ladders may not adhere to the latest safety requirements and their lack of their experience at heights:

“We think the scheme is a great idea, although we operate as a highly competitive business offering great prices across a wide range of access solutions and ladder variations. The scheme does certainly offer a feasible way for many to replace old or weathered equipment, therefore reducing the possibility of accidents occurring and on that note alone; we wish the scheme all the very best success.

“It is important in any sense of health and safety to ensure you have and use the right equipment. Personal safety is a big factor of Lofts and Ladders and we actively promote safe working conditions to all customers, whether they’re buying a telescopic surveyors ladder or a vehicle access ladder.”

Based in Bideford, Devon, Lofts and Ladders were established in 1999 and have built a strong reputation for their quality products and equipment.
