The “Countryfile Effect" sees business boom and Christmas come early at Herefordshire brand, British Cassis

Herefordshire Farmer Jo Hilditch of Whittern Farms, Lyonshall, was amazed by the “Countryfile Effect" on sales of her blackcurrant liqueur since an episode, featuring the British Cassis brand, aired on BBC1 recently. Sales have increased tenfold following the coverage.

The episode featured the farm estate during the July blackcurrant harvest and cited the many health benefits of the British Blackcurrant. Countryfile presenter Anita Rani drove the blackcurrant harvester, sorted the blackcurrants and then helped bottle the new season's British Cassis..

Many of Jo’s blackcurrants are supplied to Ribena, but owner Jo Hilditch didn't expect the upturn in business that the prime time programme has created in her own brand - British Cassis since airing back in August.  In the weeks directly after the transmission, sales increased significantly and they haven't stopped since. The sales team has been experiencing the type of demand they usually see in the run-up to Christmas.

Jo Hilditch who is a Herefordshire Food Ambassador and national Chair of The Blackcurrant Foundation commented,It was great to get recognition for the great British blackcurrant as a super healthy fruit and it also showed the many ways it can be enjoyed from Ribena to Cassis!"
