Massive recruitment drive on horizon, says GSR2R
Massive recruitment drive on horizon, says GSR2R

GSR2R, one of the country’s best known rec to rec companies, has responded to news that 85% of firms are preparing to recruit more permanent staff

There is a massive jobs boom forecast for UK workers as a reported 8 of every 10 employers are said to be putting plans in place to expand their number of permanent workers for the short term, that’s according to a survey by Recruitment and Employment Confederation.

It was also revealed by REC that three quarters (75%) of respondents – REC has over 3,000 corporate members – are set to bolster their workforce in the medium term.

Most promising of all, the data from REC’s JobsOutlook report also shows a significant decline in reduced hours and redundancies – down to 17% as of August compared to a staggering 33% recorded at the same time last year.

The findings show that the UK job market is bouncing back, providing more permanent work opportunities for job seekers.

General secretary of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Frances O’Grady, explained:

“More permanent jobs relative to agency and temporary work would be good news for families needing job security.

“But these jobs must pay decently too, after years of falling real wages. The TUC is holding a national march and really in London on 18 October – Britain Needs A Pay Rise – to call for jobs with living wages and a fair share in the recovery for all workers.”

However, chief executive of the REC, Kevin Green, was eager to stress skills shortages are still a concern:

“It’s clear that skills shortages are affecting the way in which employers use agency workers and increasing numbers are now relying on temporary staff to provide short-term access to strategic skills.

“This is a trend that is likely to continue as it becomes increasingly difficult to source the skilled permanent staff that businesses need to grow.”

GSR2R, a company at the forefront of the recruitment to recruitment sector in the UK, also weighed in on the findings.

A spokesman for the London-based company said:

“It’s great to hear that more businesses are on the hunt for permanent staff and it’s something that we can personally attest to because as a leading rec to rec firm, we’ve noticed a big jump in the number of recruitment agencies coming to ourselves to find permanent employees.

“Hopefully these figures continue to rise and more professionals utilise professional recruitment services like our own, ensuring they have the best possible candidate to fill any role.”
