Yorkshire farming business celebrates shortlist success

The husband and wife team behind Thixendale business, Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil are celebrating after being shortlisted for a national farming award.

Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil has been shortlisted in the Diversification Innovator of the Year award at the British Farming Awards that highlight the determination and tenacity of British farmers in ever changing and challenging conditions and climates.

Commenting about the shortlist, Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil founder Adam Palmer, who started the business just five years ago with his wife, Jennie said: "This is the first time that we have entered the British Farming Awards, so we're absolutely delighted to have reached the final and to have put the tiny village of Thixendale on the farming business map."

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at the Chateau Impney Hotel in Droitwich on 23rd October that includes a three course dinner and an after dinner speech from inspirational Falklands veteran, Simon Weston.

Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil was established in 2008 by Adam and Jennie Palmer on their family farm in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds.  They now produce a range of oils, dressing and mayonnaise based on their award winning rapeseed oil that is produced exclusively from home and Yorkshire Wolds grown rape and blended, bottled and labelled on the family farm.

The oil is used in Michelin starred kitchens, including the Pipe and Glass at South Dalton, and all products are preservative, GM and gluten free and are suitable for vegetarians.

Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil products are also available at farmers' markets, farm shops, delis and independent retailers throughout Yorkshire.
