Exeter’s SunGift named UK Solar Installer of the Year

Industry’ highest accolade goes to local renewable energy company

Exeter renewable expert SunGift Energy has collected a top national award, after being named the UK’s number one installer of solar panels.

The renewable energy specialist, which is based on Christow Road, Marsh Barton Industrial Estate, Exeter, picked up the Solar Power Portal Installer of the Year Award at a glittering ceremony, which was held at Birmingham’s NEC.

The awards follow a rigorous assessment process where judges initially narrowed down hundreds of national nominations to five finalists, before naming SunGift the overall winner.

“It’s a remarkable achievement for us to be named the best in the country,” said Gabriel Wondrausch, SunGift’s managing director, who picked up the award, “and it’s a great reward for all our dedicated members of staff.

“Since day one it’s been our mission to give customers the very best experience of renewable energy, and each member of SunGift staff is a testament to that philosophy.  They’ve gone out of their way to give our customers the best service, so I’d like to thank every member of the SunGift team for their role in helping us win this award."

Gabriel founded SunGift in 2005.  He began by personally designing and installing solar systems himself, and over the past nine years the businesses has continued to grow.  SunGift now employs more than 30 members of staff and has installed more than 1,000 solar PV systems.  The company designs and installs solar PV for both households and businesses, helping them to reduce their reliance on fossil fuels and significantly lower their energy bills. Some of the high-profile organisations that SunGift has recently installed systems for include the Met Office, Gregory Distribution, Quickes Cheese and Exeter City Council.

As its reputation has grown, SunGift has also developed relationships with some of the world’s top manufacturers of solar products such as Hyundai and BenQ, enabling it to bring industry-leading technologies to the south west.

The Solar Power Portal awards ceremony, at the NEC, was hosted by BBC TV presenter Kate Humble.  In addition to the quality of SunGift’s designs and installations, judges also said that they were impressed with the company’s commitment to the future of the industry, its staff training and its thorough approach to customer feedback.
