SEAC Ltd has
celebrated efforts from leading activists, food & drink manufacturers and
supermarkets for doing their bit for Pledge 4 Plastics
Last month, a partnership pledge between industry leaders in
the United Kingdom was launched, with the aim to encourage Britons to recycle
plastics more proactively.
The government-backed campaign asks people to pledge to
recycle an extra plastic bottle; pot, tub or tray; or one of each every week.
Already, tens of thousands in the United Kingdom are thought to be
participating, doing their bit for the environment and being more vigilant in
their recycling habits.
The initiative is led by recycling charity Recoup and counts
amongst its members a number of major partners. Presently, Nestle UK,
PlasticsEurope, Surrey County Cancel, RECOUP, Marks & Spencer and Coca Cola
Enterprises amongst others are all involved in some capacity.
Pledge 4 Plastics was started in response to government set
recycling targets aimed at the country’s packaging sector from 2013 to 2017.
The industry will need to double recycling levels by 2017.
Stuart Foster, CEO of RECOUP, explained: “The Pledge 4
Plastics campaign aims to encourage people to think and act differently and
rewards them for doing so. We want to highlight how great things can come from
recycling unwanted plastic.
Dan Rogerson, government resource minister, said: “The UK
has made tremendous progress on recycling over the last 10 years, building a
stronger circular economy and greener society, and this reflects a lot of hard
work from industry and local authorities, alongside a desire from residents to
do more.
“This is another great initiative to boost the recycling of
plastic packaging which has our full and ongoing support – I’ve already made my
pledge and encourage others to sign up to do their bit.”
The people behind the pro-active campaign have already sent
out a toolkit to retailers, environmental bodies, local authorities and brand
owners, encouraging them to spread the message to the public.
SEAC Ltd, a company responsible for selling Fiberon® composite decking products in the United Kingdom, have thrown
their support behind Pledge 4 Plastics, backing the core message and stressing
the importance of recycling.
A spokesman for SEAC Ltd said: “We live in a rapidly
changing world, with population, urban density and resource-heavy technologies
rising on a day-to-day basis. While our modern world has many great benefits,
recycling is something that’s sometimes overlooked and that’s not good for the
either the country or the planet.
“Recycling is essential to protect the environment and
ensure we’re not depleting the earth’s resources.”
SEAC Ltd are invested in recycling as they’re the UK
provider of Fiberon® composite garden decking.
“As a Fiberon® seller we know all too well how important recycling is. The composite
decking ranges we provide are all made from recycled plastic and wood
materials, so not only are you doing wonders for your garden or business when
you choose Fiberon® but you’re also doing your bit to
support plastic recycling!”
