Leading software
provider for the hospitality industry, NFS Technology Group, responds to news
that UK sector is to add 6,000 more jobs
6,000 new jobs for people between the age of 16 and 24 are
set to be created by the hospitality sector come the year’s end, according to
the British Hospitality Association (BHA), who say that there are currently
close to one million young people in the UK who are without education, training
or employment.
The BHA initiative is one aspect of a larger push for new
job creation within the industry. Current targets aim to create a total of
300,000 new jobs by 2020, reflecting huge growth and a notable increase in
market demand.
In an announcement, the BHA explained: “While many young
people are still out of work, there are thousands of job vacancies in the
industry and it’s this disconnect between jobs on offer and what young people
will consider as career options which is causing particular concern for
industry experts.
“A recent study for the think tank IPPR cited a mismatch
between the types of jobs young people are training for compared with what jobs
as actually being available as one of the main barriers solving the young
unemployment problem.”
Ufi Ibrahim, BHA chief executive, urged young people to
“look beyond outdated viewpoints” and give the industry a chance.
She said: “Hospitality is a successful industry with even
greater growth prospects offering a vast range of job opportunities for all job
seekers of any age.
“However, there are still widespread misconceptions amongst
many outside the industry who don’t see the value in hospitality careers.”
NFS Technology Group, a popular provider of hospitality
software in South Africa but also known well known within British and American hospitality
circles for their state of the art software solutions, often comment on news
related to the global hospitality industry. They’ve backed the push for more
jobs, crediting a thriving and vibrant hospitality sector for bringing real
value to the British economy and the lives of young people.
A spokesman for NFS said: “We regularly work with clients in
hospitality, whether it be here in South Africa, in the UK or in the tens of
other countries we have a presence in, and so we know just as well as anyone
just how important the sector is to most economies, especially when it comes to
creating jobs for people young and old. With the growth of reservation and
software management technologies the quality of service in the world of
hospitality has gone up tenfold, driving the industry to new heights.”
“To companies aiming for expansion, we would absolutely
recommend considering our hospitality software solutions. We’ll give you the
