PRESS RELEASE

TO: News Desk

FROM: Nationwide Print

DATE: 6thNovember 2014

FOR IMMEDIATE USE

Cornwall Print Company Best in the Country

A Cornish family business has picked up a prestigious national award, as the print industry recognised excellence and innovation at the annual PrintWeek Awards.

Based in St Austell,Nationwide Printcame out on top against tough competition in the small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) category at a glittering ceremony at Grosvenor House, Park Lane on 20thOctober.

PrintWeek is the most widely read printing trade publication in the UK and is considered to be the voice of the industry; the PrintWeek Awards are widely recognised as the top honour in this competitive and dynamic industry, with 25 judges appraising production quality, levels of investment in technology and staff, customer satisfaction and environmental awareness.

With the print industry undergoing so many changes in recent years, the ability to win new contracts, innovate and open up new markets were also important considerations for the panel of industry experts.

PrintWeek Editor, Darryl Danielli, said: "Winning a PrintWeek Award isn't easy. It's not meant to be. After all it's the highest accolade in UK print."

PrintWeek also referred to Nationwide Print as "...pretty much perfectly formed...".

The SME of the year category was open to the thousands of UK print companies who have sales of less than £6.5m or fewer than 50 staff.

Julian Hocking, owner and Managing Director of Nationwide Print, spoke of his elation on accepting the award, which was presented by comedian Jimmy Carr, on behalf of his dedicated and skilled team, who he described as "the company's biggest asset".

He added: "To receive an award such as this from our peers within the industry is cause for great celebration. We're only a small team and it's a vindication of years of everyone's hard work."

The company, which has been in Julian's family since the mid-thirties, prides itself on great customer service and superlative printing quality; Julian has been diligently investing in new machines, including digital presses, and staff training since he took over in 1998 keeping on top of fast-paced technological advances and a growing list of local and national clients - proving the relevance of great quality printing in the digital age.

Nationwide Print was also singled out for praise for their pioneering environmental stance.

"We recently installed a large PV (Photovoltaic) system on our roof, which will save around 13 tonnes of carbon every year - a big step towards our goal of becoming a carbon neutral printing business," explained Julian. "As you can imagine our machines use a lot of energy, so we felt it was very important to off-set this."

Nationwide Print have also invested in low energy lighting, making them one of Cornwall's most environmentally friendly companies.

Combining a sustainable approach to the environment, with strong investment in both people and technology, has clearly reaped rewards for this ambitious Cornish company.

With the PrintWeek Awards considered to be the highest accolade in UK print, Nationwide Print will clearly be a force to be reckoned with for many years to come.
