Bosinver Triumphs at Cornwall Tourism Awards

Bosinver Farm Cottages, a unique collection of holiday properties set in an idyllic hidden valley near St Austell, was a double award winner at the Cornwall Tourism Awards 2014 last night.

The awards, which recognise excellence across the tourism sector, were presented in front of a packed audience of VIPs, journalists and industry leaders at The Headland Hotel on the 6thNovember.

Bosinver was proud to secure Gold for ‘Self-Catering Holiday of the Year', as well as claiming the top spot in the ‘Sustainable Tourism' category - a remarkable achievement for this ambitious, eco-friendly family business.

Pat and Dave Smith, owners ofBosinver, were thrilled to receive both awards in the face of tough competition:
"Cornwall has a wealth of excellent self-catering accommodation and leads the UK when it comes to green tourism. We are delighted to have scooped both awards and will certainly be celebrating!" said Pat.

Pat and Dave have owned the 30 acre site at Trelowth, which is surrounded by beautiful wildflower meadows and includes a lake, woodland walks and nature trails, since 1998.

Bosinver has been gradually developing into one of the best holiday bases in the South West, providing top quality accommodation and easy access to Cornwall's attractions, with a focus on sustainability, outdoor activities and exploring the natural world.

Bosinver is no stranger to accolades, having received multiple Golds at the Cornwall Tourism Awards, The South West Tourism Excellence Awards and a Highly Commended at the Visit England Awards For Excellence in 2013.

Pat commented:
"Winning awards such as this validates our whole ethos at
Bosinver. A holiday is the most precious time for a family, so we aim to provide a really magical experience whilst making sure everything we do is sustainable, so that future generations can enjoy the same benefits."

The vision for Bosinver was to create a haven for families to enjoy holidays like they used to be. Here, families and friends of all ages can create amazing memories as they explore wild spaces, relax together in the lovingly decorated cottages, and enjoy facilities such as the solar heated swimming pool.

Sustainability plays a major part in that vision. As well as the pool, the family have invested in constructing a luxury carbon neutral cottage called ‘Lowen'.

They also support local food producers and suppliers and have an environmentally-friendly sourcing policy. Bosinver encourages guests to use public transport by providing ideas for car-free days out, and have an electric vehicle charging point.

With a sustainable outlook and a memorable guest-experience evidenced by families returning time and time again, the future looks bright for Bosinver.
