PRESS RELEASE
Release date: 10th November 2014
Free event helps local businesses grow through technology
The region's business community is being invited to a free event at IET Birmingham next week, which will show firms how to maximise their productivity for growth without having to spend thousands.
The Odoo Business Apps Show will demonstrate to SMEs how they can get the same productivity, cost saving and business insight benefits normally associated with enterprise IT applications for free, with Open Source software.
The exclusive event is being facilitated by Rugby-based business management software specialist Opus VL, and brings the world's fastest growing open source Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software provider, Odoo (formerly Open ERP) to Birmingham for the first time. It aims to demonstrate to SMEs the value that Open Source software can add to their businesses and stresses the point that SMEs can access the benefits of enterprise level ERP software without the enterprise-level costs.
Mickey Clarke, Business Development Manager at OpusVL explained: "This free event will show SMEs how simple and effective a modular ERP system can be to use within their businessA lot of SMEs require the functionality of an advanced ERP system but cannot afford the investment. Odoo is the worlds most advanced Open Source ERP application, having thousands of modules available for free and the message from OpusVL is that customisation or implementation to meet the needs of an SME need not incur excessive costs either.
The Odoo Business Apps Show will be attended by a number of experts in access to finance who can advise attendees on viable sources of funding to customise their Open Source software packages. Further cost savings can be recognised because Open Source software does not demand any licensing fees and is a flexible and low maintenance option.
As Open Source software, Odoo is available to download and install at no cost, and can be even be used in a Cloud environment for free, for up to two users.
The event already has a host of SMEs registered to attend in sectors as wide ranging as manufacturing, professional services, retail, logistics and more, and comes at a time when the UK government is actively encouraging the adoption of open source applications and has mandated adoption of Open Document Format standards across public administrations.. Odoo is already seeing over 80,000 installations a month and already serves over two million businesses worldwide, helping to integrate accounting, marketing, Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Human Resources (HR), stock control, supply chain controls and much more.
Mickey Clarke concluded: "This free event is the ideal opportunity for businesses who are looking to improve their operations to learn how they can achieve this effectively with open source software. It will be an educational event and will also offer peer-to-peer networking opportunities, as Odoo arrives in Birmingham for the very first time."
The Odoo Business Apps Show takes place on November 19 2014 at IET Birmingham. For registration and event details, visithttp://www.opusvl.com/events
