Three is the magic number for North Yorkshire microbrewery and events business

A Yorkshire Coast microbrewery with an events offshoot business could be in line for triple victory in the inaugural Scarborough Business Awards after receiving nominations in three separate categories.

It is the first time that two Hunmanby based businesses, Wold Top Brewery and Muddy Souls Events, have been shortlisted in the same competition.

Wold Top Brewery has been named as a finalist in the category of Export Achievement of the Year and Green Business of the Year whilst Muddy Souls Events have reached the shortlist for the New Business category.

Gill Mellor, director of the award-winning brewery and events company, said: "It is a wonderful surprise for one business to be nominated, let alone both in one competition.

"Muddy Souls Events is our newest business so we are proud to be recognised in the New Business category and being in the running for a further two categories with the brewery is fabulous news."

Wold Top Brewery has developed its customer base internationally in the last 18 months through supplying demand from Europe and further afield in Italy, Sweden, Norway, Finland, The Falkland Islands, Ireland and Canada.

Muddy Souls Event was launched in 2013 as an additional branch of the family-run brewery to make the most of the business' Wolds location and Hunmanby Grange's gardens.

Guests will gather at the Scarborough Spa on Friday November 21 to celebrate the best of business in Scarborough in the very first Business Awards hosted by The Scarborough News and its sister newspapers at Whitby and Ryedale, sponsored by Senior Glass Systems. The awards will be presented by BBC Look North's Clare Frisby.

Invited dignitaries include MP Robert Goodwill and newly-appointed Lord Lieutenant of North Yorkshire and businessman Barry Dodd CBE.
