Green Retreat Rewarded for Eco Efforts
A Cornish holiday complex has been recognised as one of the best eco destinations in the country by being invited to the Green Tourism Gold Star awards, which took place at The Palace Hotel in Manchester on Monday.
Little White Alice in Carnmenellis, situated between Falmouth, Truro and Redruth features six 5* holiday cottages nestled in 25 acres and was established with the aim of becoming one of the greenest holiday destinations in the country.
Little White Alice has been recognised for its eco credentials by Green Tourism; a not-for-profit organization that certifies businesses that promote sustainability.
The eco holiday destination was shortlisted for a Gold Star Award from Green Tourism, placing them within the top 3% of more than 400 businesses in their category - a grading that saw them invited to the annual conference on Monday 10th November.
Green Tourism have inspected over 2000 green holidays and hotels to date, to make sure they are caring for both the planet and their guests - promoting sustainability within the tourism industry.
Rosie Hadden, owner of Little White Alice, is pleased that her business was recognised at the awards ceremony, saying:
"We were delighted to attend the conference. It was a great opportunity for us to meet some like-minded businesses that are promoting eco-friendly tourism. To be shortlisted for this event is an honour."
Little White Alice has accumulated over ten awards at both Cornish and national ceremonies over the last three years, ranging from Gold in VisitEngland Awards for Excellence, to Best Artwork at the World Belly Board Competition.
Rosie is extremely proud of the many tourism and sustainability awards Little White Alice has won so far, saying:
"It has been an exciting time for us, we're overwhelmed with the positive reception. Our aim was to create a holiday destination that reflected the ecological values we thought were important. Now it is our sustainable ethos that we are being recognised and commended for."
Rosie continued: "We strive to provide a more sustainable holiday experience for our guests, in the hope that they might integrate some of our ideas into their everyday lives. We are seeing this happen more and more, and it's very rewarding."
