Maxi-Cosi marks Road Safety Week by re-emphasising life-saving importance of fitting child car seats correctly
A significant number of parents are putting their children at risk of serious injury or even death by not fitting child car seats correctly, says Maxi-Cosi, as it marks Road Safety Week, 17-23 November.
Safety checks carried out by road safety charity Good Egg Safety have discovered that 60% of child car seats in the UK had been fitted incorrectly.
Meanwhile, an investigation carried out by ITV's Good Morning Britain in 2014 suggests that as many as 80% of parents are using incorrectly fitted child car seats, putting their child's safety and even life at risk.
Maxi-Cosiis the official car seat partner to Good Egg Safety, which has been delivering special clinics across the UK throughout 2014 designed to help parents fit their child's car seat correctly.
The car seat clinics are held in car parks at retail parks, supermarkets, and other public places, making it easier for parents to talk to an expert while out shopping.
Good Egg Safety experts at the clinics demonstrate how to correctly fit car seats easily and correctly for optimum safety. They also help clarify car seat safety legislation and explain the new i-Size regulation - which helps make it considerably easier to fit a car seat properly and safely - that Maxi-Cosi was influential in helping to develop.
Maxi-Cosi was the first car seat manufacturer to bring an i-Size car seat - the Maxi-Cosi 2wayPearl with 2wayFix Base - to the UK market, and in Autumn 2014 was the first to introduce an i-Size infant carrier, the Maxi-Cosi Pebble Plus.
Andrew Ratcliffe, Managing Director of Maxi-Cosi UK, said: "The correct fitting of car seats is absolutely vital to the safety of your child while travelling by car.
"Having experts on hand to physically highlight any problems and demonstrate the correct methods of fitting a child seat makes things easier for parents to understand.

"Holding these clinics at places like supermarket car parks and retail parks has also been convenient for parents and, we hope, given them peace of mind afterwards that their children are now as safe as possible in their car seats."

Road Safety Week is the UK's biggest road safety event, coordinated annually by Brake and involving thousands of schools, organisations and communities each year.

Maxi-Cosiis the official car seat partner to Good Egg Safety, which has been delivering special clinics across the UK throughout 2014 designed to help parents fit their child's car seat correctly.
Maxi-Cosi has also worked with UK hip dysplasia charity STEPS to launch the Opal HD, a car seat specially designed to give children with hip dysplasia more support, flexibility and comfort.
And Maxi-Cosi Sales Director Steve Howell this year rode his bike almost 1,000 miles from John o'Groats to Land's End to raise funds for Theodora's Trust. Theodora's Trust is a charity that sends ‘Giggle Doctors' to work in collaboration with hospital staff to bring fun and laughter to around 30,000 children in hospitals including Great Ormond Street each year.
