Workspace
and facilities management leaders NFS respond to the growing issue faced by
local councils across the country, working with the young UK FM community and
leading debates.
Evidence
brought to light in recent research carried out by the Royal Institute of
Chartered Surveyors (RICS) has shown that local authorities across England are
failing to use facilities management correctly, with only one in ten (just 9%)
using FM in the most productive way, despite a strategic approach to facilities
management (SFM) could save these associations approximately £120,000 each per
year.
The news has
come as a shock to some constituencies as the extent of the issue was brought
to light, with many agreeing that radical changes across the majority of local
authorities needs to be addressed and revised. Massive savings can be made
across the Public sector with the correct approach to Strategic Facilities
Management, as was clearly illustrated when 70% of public bodies were questioned
who currently use such strategies, reported a noticeable increase in
productivity and a positive increase in employee engagement.
Each making
for a more preferred working environment and generating a more effective
workforce, it is then a wonder why more local authorities are still missing out
on the advantages of utilising good facilities management service providers. In
a statement from the global commercial property director at RICS, Johnny
Dunford, he said:
“With nearly
£1bn being wasted by those organisations without SFM in place, our research
clearly demonstrate that more needs to be done to get organisations on board
with the new approach.
‘We commend
those in the public sector who already have SFM in place, but would urge more
local government bodies to follow suit.”
In response
to the news, facilities management experts NFS, a reputable company offering a
range of software based solutions have built relations with the young UK FM
community, leading the debate from facilities to workspace management. Issuing
their latest white paper entitled “People, Property, Technology. Managing the
Process of Change” together with their recent event within facilities
management, flexible working and optimal performance as a result is just one of
the benefits being offered when approaching NFS.
A
spokesperson for the company was clear to point out the importance for their
clients to gain a more complete solution for flexible working and with good use
of ‘FM’, their services can help save authorities a sizeable percentage of
their budget:
“Our aim is
to engage more organisations and public bodies in effective and efficient
management of their resources, time and energy. Able to integrate factors such
as Video Conferencing with Cisco and AV integration with AMX, our Rendezvous
workspace solution can be hugely beneficial to FM across Britain.”
