It's a Wooden Anniversary for Williams Commerce, but Business is Golden.
Leicester based Magento ecommerce specialists Williams Commerce are celebrating five years in business this month, with the business on track to deliver 40% uplift on last year's sales and a move to new office premises in Friar Lane.
During their five years in business, Williams Commerce has developed a strong reputation as specialist providers of both B2B and B2C Magento ecommerce solutions. The client base is diverse ranging from national wholesalers like Gardman and cash and carry confectionery giant Hancocks to international enterprises including Pizza Express China and Panasonic Australia.
With an ever-expanding number of clients, Williams Commerce has positioned themselves as one of the UK's fastest growing web companies specialising in Magento ecommerce. Magento is an open source PHP and MySQL platform owned by Ebay and is now one of the world's leading ecommerce platforms chosen by online businesses for being robust, flexible, user friendly and highly customisable.
Managing Director Robert Williams and his partner Keri established Williams Commerce in 2009. Both share a corporate background in IT and Marketing respectively, previously working for large international plc.'s including Mars, Exon Mobile, Diageo and Lion Nathan, before setting up their own business in central Leicester, with a fledging operation more recently in Melbourne, Australia.
Robert says "We've managed to grow the business during the economic downturn over the last few years and 2014 is set to be our strongest year to date. We've invested in the creation of software like mSeller and our Nav to Magento module available on our app store. We've expanded our team and qualifications to deliver large-scale Magento enterprise projects for our growing list of clients. We are continuing to develop strategic partnerships with the likes of Bright Pearl and Microsoft Dynamics.
Alongside the team of technical IT, Magento and Microsoft developers and project managers, the business has also developed a complimentary marketing department offering a host of the latest digital marketing services ranging from Search and content Marketing including Google Adword management for busy businesses who have a need to outsource their marketing requirements to a specialist, certified digital team.
For the last three years, Williams Commerce has worked in association with the University of Leicester's Career Service to take on a number of internships each year, while the company has also worked with apprenticeship programs with a number of apprentices within the business going on to earn their second NVQ qualification.
With the business expanding, recruitment continues to be a key focus. Robert comments. "Finding experienced people with the right qualifications who will be a good fit for the company can be a challenge. We've found taking on bright young graduates and apprentices has proven to be a successful channel for us so far."
Keen to remain in the city centre of Leicester, Williams Commerce has recently acquired new premises on Friar Lane and is currently bringing unused office space back to life to become their new headquarters in 2015.
After five years in business, Robert reflects on what the future holds for Williams Commerce. "With the continued growth forecast online, we are well placed to continue delivering more sophisticated ecommerce solutions and custom technology, along with keeping an eye to evolve into new emerging areas in technology and marketing."
