Elephant Removals, a London-based provider of home and office removals, have commented on a report by PerfectAgent highlighting the items people most commonly leave behind when moving house.

PerfectAgent shed light on the belongings we leave behind when moving when they asked almost 1,000 people earlier in the month about their experiences. They found that almost half of all people who move home admit to leaving behind personal belongings because they’re in too much of a rush to pack and get to their new house.

Their study also found that almost two thirds of people said they’d left money behind because they’d forgotten it was in a secret ‘hiding place’, with one in five of those claiming that they’d left behind in excess of £500.

People in London were more prone to leaving behind vacuum cleaners and phone chargers, cutlery was most commonly left behind by people in Birmingham, bicycles were what most people forgot to take in Bristol and stored away Christmas decorations were forgotten most often by those living in Cardiff.

The study shows the importance of preparation, outlining the potential cost of doing things last minute.
