Colour zoning, or using blocks of colour to highlight different areas of a space depending on what you use it for, is one of the hottest home trends today given our penchant for open plan living.

A wall is the perfect canvas when creating a beautiful home which reflects your personality; so use fantastic paints just like the new luxury ones from Pride and Joy atwww.prideandjoy.me. (Pictured is PJ 9175).

Colours can be used to separate a dining area from a living room, create an illusion of a headboard or fireplace surround, produce a medallion effect on the ceiling around a chandelier or frame decorative items like mirrors, photographs or paintings. With the right combination of colours and shapes, colour zoning can even take the place of artwork.

If your space is small, you can make it look bigger by painting a horizontal stripe which makes the room appear wider. If you have a bare wall, think about shapes, or paint a large square to create a backdrop for a favourite painting or piece of furniture.

Colour is key obviously. Think about your accessories, lighting and furniture; and decide if you want to make a big, bold statement, or simply create sophisticated soothing spaces.

Pride and Joy is a new collection of luxury paints which comprises 769 shades in six finishes, for interior walls, wood and furniture. The paints are easy to apply, non-drip, no odour and quick drying.
