Garth Coates comments on government announcement of new visa application centres

One of London’s leading immigration solicitors, Garth Coates Solicitors, has responded to a recent UK government announcement on the extension of 24-hour priority visa services.

The extension of application centres is designed to entice more wealthy tourists, investors and business leaders to the country.

At the moment, the Super Priority Visa Service is only open to visitors who are from India or China and exists to help those who need to visit the UK urgently. With the Super Priority Visa Service, decisions are returned to applicants within the space of 24 hours.

But as of April 2015, the UKVI will make changes so that visitors from the Philippines, South Africa, Thailand, Turkey and United Arab Emirates will have access to the Super Priority Visa Service. The service will also extend to New York and Paris.

The changes were announced by David Cameron earlier in the month ahead of his G20 summit visit to Australia.

Mr Cameron said: “As part of our long-term economic plan, we are determined to do everything we can to back business, support investment and create jobs.

“We are already taking action on that front including cutting corporation tax to the lowest rate in the G7 but we’ve got to keep listening to business about what more we can do to support them. And this new 24 hour service is another way we can help – it will persuade more business travellers, investors and tourists to visit Britain, to trade with Britain and to expand in Britain.

“This is good news for British business and tourism, helping us to build a more resilient economy and secure a brighter future for Britain.”

The change to the system is designed to tackle concerns by visitors, businesses and academics, many of whom have long continued that previous immigration procedures were unnecessarily and frustratingly bureaucratic and time consuming.

Garth Coates Solicitors regularly share their thoughts on industry news. A spokesman for the company said: “The move will help businessespeople enter the UK urgently. This has an obvious benefit in that it will go a long way towards helping the economy and bringing money and investment into the country. Jobs and investment in the UK will receive a significant boost by this.”
