Performance Boost for Materials Handling Experts Advanced Handling

Outlined at the recent Biannual Company Conference, annual figures for Advanced Handling reported a continued growth in sales orders.

With a year-on-year increase in sales orders of 19% and overall profitability growing by 23%, these results indicate a definite pattern towards a rising demand amongst UK businesses for materials handling and manual handling solutions. Specifically in the last twelve months Advanced Handling experienced their highest volume of orders for mezzanine goods lifts and PRONOMIC Lift and Drive mobile lifting trolleys.

The company’s Service division celebrated their successful growth of 33%; again a reflection on UK businesses investing in preventative maintenance and safety. This reported growth has been an encouraging boost for Advanced Handling and the industry sector as explained by Managing Director, Mike Prince; “Along with other well positioned UK manufacturing businesses we have successfully come through the recession. At the end of 2012 we introduced some restructuring to our business and product range. It’s been very much a time of adjustment and last year we began to benefit from the positive effect this has made across all of our departments.”

Making great efforts to optimise operations, the Advanced Handling are benefiting from their lean approach to manufacturing and the implementation of an improved internal quality system. Commercial Director, Liz Middleton commented on the new enhancements, saying; “Our customers both external and internal are benefiting from the improvement we have made to our performance as we are now able to measure more effectively how we are delivering to our customers.”  Following news that over the last six months dispatch times for standard items was a respectable 98.22% on time, Liz concluded; “Regular analysis of this data allows us to continue to improve our production processes to ensure we don’t let our customers down.”

Further improvements were reported by the Technical Department within Advanced Handling, announcing new software capabilities to extend equipment simulation including additional motion analysis and structural optimization. With this new technology the team are able to create and model real situations in order to test the strength, versatility and specification of designs before any manufacturing processes are started. The company’s Technical Director, David Goss, spoke of the benefits of the software during the conference explaining; “Now we can simulate complex designs and accurately predict equipment performance earlier in the process. This will result in improved performance and enhanced reliability for our customers."
