With a brief that called for a classical yet contemporary style, the design team at Design Modules recently met the challenge of creating a luxurious bathroom in a Grade II listed Georgian country house in North Yorkshire.

CAD drawings supplied by the architect and a meeting with the client, who had a clear idea of the look and quality she wanted within the bathroom, provided a starting point for the design. The dedicated Design Modules design team took this forward and undertook all the joinery aspects of the project.

The client's brief required the WC to be concealed so, to achieve this, it was decided to divide the room with two intricately mirrored feature walls. These were conceived to flank the entrance to both the WC and shower areas while leaving the main room perfectly proportioned to accommodate a large Victoria and Albert Ravello freestanding bath. This was carefully placed to form a focal point at the centre of the room while allowing those bathing a clear view through the window to the extensive parkland beyond. The overall effect was enhanced by a Hansgrohe Axor Citterio freestanding bath filler with a handshower.

For the WC area, Abacus Manufacturing Group supplied an Easi-plan dual flush WC frame, including a chrome Trend push plate. To this was fitted a Villeroy & Boch Sentique wall hung WC pan with soft close seat. A recessed-in wall storage cabinet was installed above the WC while a Ben de Lisi Cala 1750mm x 480mm polished stainless steel heated towel rail was installed nearby on the rear of the feature wall.

Abacus Elements wet room products were used to create the large walk-in shower area with an alcove for shampoos and gels within it. A Hansgrohe Axor Citterio thermostatic shower valve, together with a Vessini 500mm square polished stainless steel fixed overhead shower, were installed into Easi-plan concealed shower fitting plates.

Within the main bathroom area, a pair of Villeroy & Boch Loop & Friends 430 x 430mm surface mounted washbasins were installed on top of a vanity unit built by Design Modules. A pair of Axor Citterio 3-hole wall mounted basin mixers with cross head handles were fitted through the mirror above.

Floor tiling was chosen to complement the geometric style of the feature walls while the walls of the shower and WC areas were finished with large sheets of marble.
