Do you comply with BCAS Food & Beverage Compressed Air Guidelines?

The British Compressed Air Society (BCAS) has prepared new Best Practice Guidelines, in conjunction with advice from the British Retail Consortium (BRC) and in association with the Food and Beverage industry requirements. Safety in food and beverage processing and production must be of paramount importance, and Thorite canensurecompliance.

The BCAS booklet gives useful guidance and allows informed decisions to be made on the type of compressed air equipment required, how it must be installed, maintained and crucially the requirements for air purity. It expands on the provisions for the supply of compressed air in food and beverage manufacturing specified in the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety ISO 22000 and ISO TS 22002-1.

There are two ways the guidelines will affect production processes. The first concerns Direct Contact, where compressed air is in contact as part of production and processing, including packaging and transportation. The second covers Indirect Contact where compressed air is exhausted into the local atmosphere around the food preparation, production, processing, packaging or storage areas.

Thorite is the UK's biggest independent supplier of compressed air products and process systems, superbly equipped and experienced to be an effective purification partner for the Food and Beverage industry. The company's expert engineering personnel can help identify critical applications as part of the point-of-use Air Quality Audit-HACCP Process.

It's all about peace of mind and with Thorite's help, unbeatable technical support and £3.5million off the shelf stockholding air purity in food and beverage processing can be guaranteed.
