Ink and toner supplier company, Ink Worldwide, have
commented on the recent news of Epson’s investment in manufacturing subsidiary
Epson Precision Inc. to build a new plant for the increase in inkjet printer
demands.
The 12.3 billion yen investment from Seiko Epson Corporation
will help keep up with the increasing production volumes of inject printers and
3LCD projectors, with the high tech facilities due for completion early 2017,
with construction set to being in Spring 2015.
The new plant is being built as Epson believe the current
China, Indonesia and Philippines sites will not be able to fulfil the expected
demand, as office inkjets and high-capacity tank models are seeing a rapid
growth.
Projector production is also expanding, thanks to the
business and education needs for the systems, and the new plant will help Epson
expand its current line-up, offering commercial applications and business
applications for everyone.
Epson also plan for the new plant to decrease the overall
electricity consumption by half, with a plan to install a mega solar power
generation system on the plants roof, holding a capacity of 3,000 kWh. Daytime
electricity will be greatly reduced thanks to the solar power system in place.
The new plant will also see a rise in employment, with an
expected 20,000 strong workforce over the current 12,500, to help with the
planned production increase. Epson hopes to see a huge increase in business,
and the construction will see no impact on the March 2015 end of fiscal year
results.
