‘Horrendous’ conditions are expected with UK temperatures set to drop, with snow and ice soon to follow. The areas which will be the most affected are Scotland, Northern England, the Midlands and Northern Ireland. A spokesperson for the Met Office has said, ‘During the day there will be large areas of fine spells of winter sunshine, though it will feel cold, with corridors of good, dry, bright weather, up and down the country.’ Though these conditions are set to take a turn for the worst as the month goes on.

The explanation for the sudden icy weather has been linked with the deepening low pressure system in the North Atlantic, with bands of clouds being pushed across the country. Citizens of the UK in the heavily affected areas have been warned to ‘be aware’ and there is no sign of the cold weather fading in the near future.
