Gradwood, a Stockport-based provider of reliable heating
solutions in the UK, have responded to reports that the Government plans to
bolster Green Deal, an energy efficiency scheme, by £30million.
H&V News, a
popular publication serving the heating, ventilation and air condition sector,
reports that as of December 10th 2014 households can apply for up to
£5,600 to contribute towards the cost of energy efficiency installations as
part of the Green Deal Home Improvement Fund (GDHIF).
Richard Twinn, policy and public affairs officer for UK
Green Building Council, said: “Full marks to Government for listening to
industry and making sensible changes to the fund. A more robust application
process is likely to result in fewer speculative applications and prevent the
feeding frenzy witnessed last summer. Ring fenced funding will also stop the
fund being completely swallowed up by the most expensive energy saving
measures.
“However, this is still a finite pot of funding that will
create uncertainty for both householders and industry when it inevitably runs
dry.”
Amber Rudd, energy and climate change minister, explained:
“We’ve already taken £50 off energy bills this year, and have forced energy
companies to make things simpler and easier for bill payers, but we know that
the best way for households to cut their bills is to use less energy.
“More than three quarters of a million homes have already
had energy saving improvements as a result of the Energy Company Obligation and
Green Deal. It makes sense to go even further to help more families install
measures so that they see the benefits of lower bills and a warmer home for
years to come.”
Gradwood provide commercial ventilation, smoke ventilation,
heating and air conditioning across the UK and they often comment on related
news. They believe that extra financial initiatives for households and
businesses across the UK can only be a good thing.
A representative for Gradwood said: “Financial incentives
are one of the best ways to encourage people to get on board with energy
efficient technologies and that’s true whether you’re talking about homeowners
or business owners.
“Funding from the government has gone a long way towards
making the UK greener, especially UK businesses, so it’s always good to read
that even more is being offered as incentive to get green and help people save
money.”
