In 2014,
wind power provided record amounts of clean, efficiently produced energy
according to recently released official statistics from the National Grid.
Generating
enough electricity to supply approximately 6.7million households across the UK,
wind turbines across the country are increasing in popularity, especially when
compared to traditionally supplied energy sources that are rising in price. Experiencing
a 15% increase over the amount of energy generated by turbines in 2013, the
results are clear that more focus is being placed on renewable energy sources
and wind turbines are becoming more favourable.
Wind farms,
those that are sponsored by public and government funding too, feed into the
national grid and along with smaller sites and independent turbines have all
attributed to increasing the amount of clean energy directed to British homes,
providing 9.3% of the UK’s total electricity created by wind, an increase 1.5%
above the previous year. Amongst many other records being beaten last year, it
seemed then a terrific result for wind generated electricity as a viable source
of clean fuel and ever present power.
Speaking of
how 2015 looks to already had a great start, Maf Smith, the deputy chief of
RenewableUK had this to say: It’s great to start 2015 with some good news about
the massive quantities of clean electricity we’re now generating from wind,
with new records being set month after month, quarter after quarter, and year
on year, as we increase our capacity to harness one of Britain’s best natural
resources.”

relevant news and reports from their industry on a regular basis. A company
spokesperson believes that the advances that will be made for more renewable
energy will continue to boost the percentage of homes and businesses making use
of cleaner, more ethical energy supplies:
“2014 has
certainly been a massive year for alternative power sources such as wind
turbine generated electricity. Solar Power is also making continual advances
and more businesses are benefitting from such adaptions. We see any attempts at
presenting cheaper, cleaner energy to homes and businesses across Britain as a
positive sign and support the advancements that are being made to sourcing
renewable and efficient sources of power.”
