Leading car leasing company, UK Carline, has commented on the news that the Department for Transport secretary, Patrick McLoughlin, has revealed a £6 billion campaign to improve the condition of local roads and fix potholes.

The work will take place over a six year period, from 2015 to 2021, and the Department for Transport aim to fix approximately eighteen million potholes across the UK. The planned funding over a set time scale, with locked in funding, is in hope to help save money for the taxpayer, and also make for a more organised project.

It is vital we have good quality roads. This government has already taken strong action  by spending £1 billion more on local roads maintenance than was spent in the previous parliament.’

A huge number of potholes need fixing with Northumberland council currently having 6,600 and Derbyshire having 1550, which shows just how much work is required over the course of the project.
