The Beautiful House Company, a company at the forefront of
luxury accommodation in the UK, has responded to a VisitEngland forecast which
predicts the tourism sector will create 500,000 jobs in the next ten years.
VisitEngland, the country’s tourist body, believes that a
number of upcoming events, including the 800th anniversary of the
Magna Carta and this year’s Rugby World Cup, will help to mark the start of a
decade of growth in the industry. RWC 2015 alone is set to add £1billion to the
economy over its six week running time.
A sizable percent of the forecast growth is expected to
arise from an increasing number of Britons choosing to travel within the UK
more, whether on short trips or longer holidays. Currently, 70% of all spending
is the result of domestic tourism.
James Beresford, VisitEngland chief executive, said:
“England’s tourism industry can look forward to 2015 with confidence.
“There is a cornucopia of stunning events and anniversaries
falling this year which we’d expect to drive up visitor numbers right across
the country. All this with a tailwind of growing consumer confidence and a
falling oil price which cuts the cost of leisure travel, makes us optimistic
for a busy year of welcoming more visitors from home and abroad.”
Helen Grant, Minister for Tourism, said: “We are committed
to keeping up this momentum and doing all we can to help an industry that is
predicted to double in size over the next decade.”
The Beautiful House Company, an established provider of
luxury home hire in England, Scotland and Wales, believes the prediction is a
fair one.
A representative for the company said: “The tourist board
has done an excellent job these last few years in promoting the best that
England has to offer and it’s led to sustained, sizable growth that we expect
will continue for many years to come.
“People are realising that there’s tremendous beauty right
on their doorstep. You don’t need to travel around the world to enjoy a taste
of luxury and lots of new experiences, you can get it right here in England.”
