A fab fun day is in store for anyone who wants to learn a new skill or improve their chances of landing a new job, thanks to a Stafford-based housing association that's celebrating the eighth birthday of its Community Learning Programme.

Stafford and Rural Homes (SARH) will be marking the launch of its latest series of training and recreational workshops by offering free taster sessions at The Hub in Eastgate Street.

The free event on Friday, January 30, is open to anyone and will include informal workshops on complementary therapy, creative family learning and cupcake decorating.

Visitors can also learn how to grow their own organic veg or fix and maintain a pushbike as well as finding out about courses aimed at improving their employability.

The Community Learning Programme is coordinated by SARH and delivered by partners from across the community. Chris Plant, the community landlord's Head of Housing Management said it has proved a huge success over the past eight years

"Many people who've taken part have discovered talents they never knew they had," he explained. "Others have used the skills they've learnt to help them get back into work whilst making new friends and building their confidence.

"The programme really does have something for everyone and the launch event promises the chance for everyone to try something new as well as joining SARH and our partners in celebrating its success."

The launch event takes place between 11.00am - 2.00pm at

The Hub, which is opposite the Gatehouse Theatre and further details - including copies of the Programme - are available by contacting the SARH Community Involvement Team on freephone 0800 111 4554 or emailcp@sarh.co.uk
