PRESS RELEASE

28th January 2015

NOLAN’S HIT HOPING TO BE BIG HIT IN FIGHTING CANCER

A remake of the Nolan’s hit single ‘I’m in the mood’ is hoping to be a big hit in the war against cancer when it is released on World Cancer Day (4th February 2015).

Cancer survivor Amelia Bailey, 45, has rewritten the words of the song, which now focus on fighting cancer and racing for life.   She joined forces with a further 19 ladies whose lives have also been affected by cancer and formed a group called ‘The Cancer Fighters’.

The single, which is being self released will raise money for Cancer Research UK, is Amelia’s way of doing something to fight back after not only her own experience of cancer but that of her sisters as well.

It has been rerecorded and supported by the original songwriters Ben Findon, Mike Myers and Robert Puzey. All three have waived the royalties so that all profits go to Cancer Research UK.

Amelia said: “I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011 and when I had just finished my treatment my older sister Allison was also diagnosed.  As she was going through her treatment my brother-in-law, Nigel was diagnosed with an aggressive, unknown primary cancer and very sadly died two weeks later.  For me that was the catalyst I needed to try to do something positive and try to raise some money to help fight the disease.”

Songwriter Mike Myers who flew in from Europe to help record the single, said “Over the years I have lost many loved ones, including my mother and my wife, to cancer. Cancer is a disease with a voracious appetite and something we must endeavour to eradicate.”

In addition to the single, ‘The Cancer Fighters’ have designed their own t-shirt bearing their ‘The Cancer Fighters’ slogan.  The t-shirts have received endorsement from many celebrities who have chosen to wear them for a selfie including, Sharon Osbourne, Lorraine Kelly, Christine Talbot, the Red Arrows and Gold medal winner Andy Turner.

‘The Cancer Fighters’ t-shirt will be exclusively stocked in F&F at Tesco from 2nd February 2015.  T-shirts retail at £10 and 100% of the profits will be donated to Cancer Research UK.  ‘The Cancer Fighters’ shirts are designed for both men and women and will be available to buy in 200 Tesco stores nationwide and from the F&F website: http://www.F-F.com.  F&F has guaranteed a donation of £10,000 but the t-shirt sales could raise as much as £50,000 for Cancer Research UK, which will fund life saving research into beating cancer sooner.

Amelia, said: “We have been amazed by all the celebrity support and the generosity of F&F in helping us raise money through Tesco stores. We are so grateful that together they are helping to raise our profile significantly.  We are now looking for a record label so that our song could then reach the British public who would hopefully buy our charity single and help us make even more money for Cancer Research UK.”
