Beverley skin expert invited to address national Cosmetics conference

A respected Beverley skin expert and facialist has been invited to talk at a Cosmetics Exhibition and Conference next month (24-25 March).

A published author of several scientific skincare papers, Dr. Katerina Steventon will address delegates at the ‘Concept to Consumer' themed Making Cosmetics conference at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.

Dr. Steventon will be sharing the podium with a number of high profile speakers, including representatives from pharmaceutical giant, GSK, Harley Street Cosmetics and The University of Leeds. The conference is designed to encourage suppliers, organisations, experts and brand owners to share best practice for developing cosmetics and for taking them from concept to consumer.

Dr. Steventon's seminar is entitledSkincare for Difficult to Treat Skin Typesand it draws on the work that she does in her Beverley clinic and the scientific papers that she has written on the subject.

Speaking about the opportunity, Dr. Steventon said: "Running an independent skincare clinic and discussing consumers' skin concerns daily gives me a unique insight into their needs, values and behaviours.

"The overwhelming choice of skincare products on the market is often a source of confusion for consumers with difficult-to-treat skin types.

"These consumers represent a loyal segment of clientele that - if guided with personalised routines - have finally found the right products that work to alleviate their concerns.

"The challenge that I will address is how to diagnose these skin types and address their complex needs and how to develop new products to provide gentle yet efficacious solutions."

Dr. Steventon was invited to talk after conference organisers were impressed by her research papers about hormonal changes and the impact of diet in acne that she has written for professional publications. Her bi-monthly column in Cosmetics and Toiletries has provided the skincare industry with innovative angle on diverse skin types and skincare routines over the last two years. "My work is quite unique as I use my research to inform my clinical practice FaceWorkshops and in turn my practical experience in the salon shapes my scientific work." Dr. Steventon said.

Before establishing independent skincare consultancy FaceWorkshops in 2009, Dr. Steventon's experience spanned several years and continents - from prestigious skincare brand, La Prairie in her native Czech Republic to Shiseido in Japan and Smith and Nephew wound healing in Hull.

Dr. Steventon uses her PhD in skin science combined with her professional facial therapy training to provide clients with a bespoke package of scientifically validated products combined with facial therapies in a clinic in Beverley, East Yorkshire.

Dr. Steventon is also the founder of a LinkedIn Group: Innovative Ideas & Insights in Facial Skincare.
