Seminar Helps Businesses Plan For 2015 Election

A Cornish accountancy firm recently hosted a seminar to give tax planning advice to business owners and employers ahead of the 2015 election.

Chartered Accountants and Chartered Tax Advisers, Robinson Reed Layton, hosted the seminar on Thursday 12th February at The Alverton in Truro.

Taking place from 7:30am to 10am, the event was led by Robinson Reed Layton's Tax Partner, James Bailey, who provided year-end tax planning advice, with valuable insights into how the election may influence future tax planning, and warned of possible future changes in tax law.

Highlighting both personal and business taxes, James gave useful tips for good tax housekeeping before the end of the 2014/2015 tax year.

He highlighted some measures already in place, and suggested some tax planning opportunities to implement before 5thApril in case they do not survive a change of Government.

James commented:

"General elections always lead political parties to offer bread and circuses in the form of proposed tax cuts for their demographic of choice and proposed tax raids on their propaganda hate figures. I was glad to be able to provide a summary of both and an opportunity to review the likely effects on the local economy."

Another invaluable aspect of the morning was a Q&A session with James, where business owners voiced their queries, making the most of his expert advice.

Paul Reed, Senior Partner at Robinson Reed Layton said:

"We were pleased to host the seminar this morning, as we thought, in the circumstances, a Pre Election Tax Planning seminar would be more useful than our usual Budget Breakfast.

"James has a wealth of knowledge and understanding which meant we were able to give some specialist advice to the attendees. His national recognition and regular articles on taxation issues mean he is an invaluable source of advice, which we were happy to offer to the many local businesses and individuals who attended the seminar."
