Sheffield hairdresser sets her sights on a new career

A Sheffield hairdresser has swapped her scissors for spectacles as she embarks on a new career.

29 year old Kate Wilson has joined the team at the Woodseats branch of Alex Gage Family Optometrist as an Optical Assistant.

Of the change, Kate said: "I wanted to try a new job that would give me a new challenge whilst still using the customer service skills that I learnt in hairdressing."

In her new role, Kate is responsible for reception duties, answering and making phone calls, greeting patients on arrivals and glazing spectacles.

Kate lives in Low Edges with her partner, Chris and enjoys spending time with her family and walking the dog when she's not at work. She is also helping Chris to raise funds for Scope by doing the 2015 Bolton Ironman Triathlon (a 2.4-mile (3.86 km) swim, a 112-mile (180.25 km) bicycle ride and a marathon 26.2-mile (42.2 km) run, all done consecutively.) Any support would be most welcome.www.virginmoneygiving.com/chrisedley

Alex Gage also owns a practice in Crosspool with his wife and fellow optometrist, Sarah.
