Leading UK air gun supplier, Just Air Guns, has recently commented on the news of Bideford Shooting Club being set to receive a £75,000 grant to help enhance the shooting ranges from Sport England’s Inspired Facilities.

The £75,000 grant will be used to build new facilities at Parkham, which will include an outdoor shooting range, indoor shooting ranges, a clubhouse, a conservation area, toilets and car park. The club is currently situated at an indoor shooting range at Moreton House in Bideford, with the expansion set to draw in new members.

Work is expected to begin in the spring, and 148 sport projects are set to receive similar grants, with a £10 million National Lottery grant being shared out among those recognised.

Club captain of Bideford Shooting Club, Mog Thomson said, ‘There is so much interest in target shooting because it is a genuinely inclusive sport. This award secures our future as a club.

It is an excellent sport for young people, it teaches discipline, honest, self-control and many other qualities.’

The new facilities are also planned to allow access for people with disabilities.

‘We have already been approached by the British Paralympic Association which is interested in using the ranges in the future for training.’
