Hull Veterinary group raises £500 for local animal charities
A Hull veterinary group that took an imaginative approach to its Christmas fundraising has raised £500 for local charities.
Employees at the Haven Veterinary Group, with practices in Hull and Hedon, held a staff pet photo shoot to create an innovative pet calendar and cards that they sold to raise valuable funds for Carr House Rescue and Bransby Horses.
Other fund raising initiative that contributed to the total included the sale of cat and dog goodie bags, horse treat bags, home-made cat and dog biscuits and a prize draw competition at the Hedon Christmas Lights Fayre.
Evie Beattie, senior practice administrator, organised the events and said: "Thanks to the generosity of the staff who participated in the photo shoot, the people who bought cards and calendars and Haven Veterinary Group owner, Jim Morris, who made a donation, we raised £500.
"£250 will be donated to Hull-based Carr House Dog Rescue and Lincolnshire charity, Bransby Horses, one of the UK's largest equine welfare charities will receive the same amount."
Haven Veterinary Group has been treating and caring for small and large animals for over a century and its Holderness Road practice is one of only a few nurse training centres in East Yorkshire.
