WHY DO TRAIN COMPANIES FIND IT ‘TOO DIFFICUT' TO OFFER CHEAPER FARES?

There are plenty of cheaper rail fares that hard-pressed travellers could get, but the big train companies claim they are too difficult for them to be offered. But a group of train buffs say no. They offer fares on-line that can save on average 22% on 44% of journeys found using split ticketing. These are a collection of multiple tickets on a stopping journey instead of a departure and arrival one. Same train, same seat, all legal, advances and walk ons.

The train buffs secret, is not offered by the giant train companies as they find it too difficult to implement. However Trainsplit and online partner Raileasy have built a system that's easy to use and compare. These independents can do it so why don't the big operators, many foreign nationally owned provide them.

Patrick McLoughlin Transport minister said it's imperative to make the railway more ‘accessible' at a recent Rail Delivery Group Industry Day. Does that include cheaper rail fares that the rail buffs can offer with split ticketing. The ‘Campaign for Better Transport' says Travellers should automatically get the best priced tickets.
